The drum in the Miele soft mount washer is attached to the machine base with springs and shock absorbers. This allows the base to remain stationary even while the drum spins at exceptionally high speeds.
- Due to the spring action, the soft mount drum is capable of higher spin speeds. Higher spin speed means less residual moisture and shorter drying time.
- By isolating the drum with springs, soft mount machines typically last longer than hard mounted ones. The main bearing is built to last 25,000 operating hours.
