The drum in the Miele soft mount washer is attached to the machine base with springs and shock absorbers. This allows the base to remain stationary even while the drum is spinning at exceptionally high speeds. For the operator this offers a number of benefits, including:
- Due to the spring action of the soft mount the drum is capable of higher spin speeds. Higher spin speed means less residual moisture and shorter drying time.
- By isolating the drum with springs, soft mounted machines typically last longer than hard mounted ones. The main bearing is built to last 30,000 operating hours.

Proper detergent dispensing is important for effective cleaning. Between the dispensing cups and the liquid detergent pumps, Miele washers can meet the full range of laundry applications.
