Bovine Mastitis Prevention |
|
Bovine Mastitis costs dairy farmers about $200 per cow per year. The disease is detected by measuring the somatic cell count of a milk sample.
A dairy farmer's first line of defense against this disease is proper pre-milking procedures, which includes the scrubbing and drying of the cow teats. This minimizes teat-end mastitis pathogens from growing and spreading and reduces somatic cell count.
Most dairy farmers use reusable cloths and those cloths must be disposed of or properly cleaned and sanitized in between milkings. The Little Giant is capable of heating water up to 85º C, and holds the temperature for 15 minutes, which provides thermal disinfection of udder cloths and improves somatic cell count control, which is the primary factor in determining mastitis in cows. The PW 6065 can be stacked with the PT 7136 dryer to easily fit into small spaces. For more information, contact 800/991-9380 ext. 2436
